This May we welcomed all new, current, and former John Winthrop School families to join us for a night celebrating the school’s 50th Anniversary. A fantastic night was had by all! It was so wonderful and heartwarming to reconnect with so many old friends, especially our founding Director, Hildred Simons and her family. We also announced the establishment of the Hildred Simons Endowment Fund, in honor of Hildred’s 35 years of service to our school. The Endowment Fund has been established as a means to secure funds that will benefit the school in perpetuity while serving as a constant reminder of the core values and dedication that formed the school so many years ago. If you would like to make a gift, please click “Make a donation”. We look forward to all that the next 50 years holds!
It has become an annual tradition at John Winthrop to host a day of service in the Back Bay by cleaning up the Clarendon Street playground. The school’s connection with the Clarendon Playground go back to our very first Director, Hildred Simons, who fought to have the space zoned as a play space for families rather than a condo building. Families gathered on Saturday, April 9th for this year’s cleanup. We are grateful to have such a wonderful space in our neighborhood for families to gather!
