Events
The John Winthrop School Annual Street Fair
This event takes place on a Saturday in early October. The Street Fair features moonbounces, face painting, pony rides, games, food, and more. Raffle ticket sales and ride ticket sales benefit the scholarship fund. This event is open to JWS families as well as the community at large. Donating your time by volunteering to help run an event at the fair is a great way to get to know other parents and to watch the children have a great fall day!
Annual Spring Auction
The Annual Spring Auction is the school’s biggest fundraising event. The Auction is a fun and exciting evening out for parents and teachers. Ticket sales and proceeds from the live and silent auction benefit the Scholarship Fund. There are dozens of ways to support the Auction as a volunteer – from serving as a chairperson, helping to gather donations, coordinating classroom art projects, serving on a committee, or helping setup and run the event.
Watermelon Day
Watermelon Day is an important tradition for everyone at the John Winthrop School. Each year on the last day of school we gather as a community to sing songs in celebration of the time we have shared together. It is a way to say goodbye to friends for the summer and to offer well wishes to those who move on to kindergarden. Together we acknowledge the marvel of childhood, the hardwork of parenting and care giving, and the love that abounds through it all. We cap the day with lots and lots of fresh watermelon - what better way to start the summer?
